Garda Vetting 2019
All those applying for Club Positions (excluding helpers) for Summer 2019 must have their garda vetting clearance completed prior to commencing employment.
Garda Vetting is used as part of the recruitment process for staff or volunteers working in sporting organisations including Irish Sailing. A step by step guide to the vetting process for 2019 is available here on the Irish Sailing website.
All forms (which can be found here) must be completed by the applicant and submitted to the designated person (in the case of BSC please forward or bring the proof of identity form to Sheila O’Sullivan for sign off). If you include a SAE (addressed to Irish Sailing) – Sheila will forward them directly to commence the e-vetting process.
Please note – if you are under 18 you must also submit a Parent/Guardian Consent Form NVB3.
It is imperative that the forms are fully completed with all the necessary supporting documentation or your forms will be returned to you and this may significantly delay the process.
The step by step guide which can be found here outlines the 7 steps in the process. Nuala Healy is the Liaison Person at Irish Sailing in relation to garda vetting.
Garda Vetting and Child Protection – All Forms available at Irish Sailing Library.
Please note – if you received a garda vetting clearance letter from Irish Sailing prior to the 15/4/2018 it is valid for three years from the date of issue (the initial letters issued by Irish Sailing when the process was initially introduced did not specify an expiry date).
Those issued after 15/4/2018 will be valid for five years.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure all their certification and garda vetting is up to date.
