The July Sailing Course concluded on Friday after three weeks of fun and frolics both on and off the water. The 113 sailors enjoyed beach days, a junior laying up supper, table tennis nights, junior disco nights coupled with learning lots of new skills across all levels on the water in their boats.
The course prizegiving was held yesterday afternoon and many thanks to all the instructors, club stewards and helpers who made the course a wonderful success.
The July Lousy Cup concluded today and the prizegiving was held this evening. Laser 4.7 class was won by Sally O’Flynn, topaz uno by Aidan O’Flynn and the RS200’s won by Daniel Hegarty.
The Marconi Cup Team Racing event will be held in Crookhaven Harbour Sailing Club next Saturday 28th July.
The Harbour Racing continued this afternoon for sloops, 1720’s and keelboats. The 1720’s Loo Trophy was won by Boomerang helmed by Paul Hegarty. The Heir Island Sloops was won by Fred Kinmonth who entertained all at the prizegiving with his speech.
A fundraising coffee morning will be held on Tuesday 24th July next for the Wild Atlantic Way Pool in the Clubhouse. All welcome.
The Taster Courses (Morning, Afternoons and full days) will commence on Monday 23rd July. As usual, there has been great interest in these courses and they are all full. The Adult Taster Courses (mornings and afternoons) are also nearly full.
At the prizegiving this evening Commodore Niall O’Neill congratulated the Baltimore RNLI crew who competed this week at Volvo Cork Week in the Beaufort Cup. Baltimore RNLI were second overall beaten by only 2 points.
The Commodore also announced that the club can now accept credit/debit cards in payment of courses/merchandise or club suppers. However, given credit card company restrictions we are unable to accept membership subscriptions via this payment system.
Club Supper 3 will be held on Wednesday night (25th July) and the guest chefs are Tracey and Mark Dilloughery. Bookings are now open in the clubhouse.
